Be Informed

The Bloomington Sun Current is our community newspaper. Pay special attention to the public notices contained in the paper each week.  Since our city seldom involves residents in major development projects beyond legally required boundaries, reading this section is one key to becoming an informed citizen.

The City of Bloomington web site is fairly comprehensive and contains a wealth of information, although it can take some work to find the information you desire.  And as far as we know, official public notices (see above) are not listed on the web site.  If you are interested in development-related issues, the "Development Directory" section of the City web site provides a limited (but out-of-date) overview of development activity.

Unfortunately, by the time a public hearing is announced many projects and proposals have taken on a life of their own, and all too often residents are left  frustrated and angry with the process.  That's why a primary objective of the Better Bloomington web site is to facilitate early and ongoing involvement by Bloomington residents in matters that affect our community and our neighborhoods.

Be Heard

Feel free to use this link to contact City officials.  Your message will be directed to the email addresses of the City Manager, City Council and the Mayor.  Don't be afraid to ask questions or express your opinions about issues that are important to you!

The Bloomington Web Cafe is place to discuss issues and share opinions with other Bloomington residents.
