France / Old Shakopee Redevelopment Round two of the effort to redevelop the intersection of France and Old Shakopee Road is now in progress. It appears that initial proposals to redevelop this area failed due to neighborhood opposition. A new and more inclusive process was put in place to ensure adequate participation from affected neighborhood residents and businesses. A fourteen (14) member committee consisting of three (3) residents, eight (8) business representatives (four business tenants and four business property owners), One (1) representative from the Planning Commission and One (1) representative from the Housing and Redevelopment Authority, was charged with leading the new redevelopment study The City of Bloomington web site has additional information on this topic.
